Updated: Location added! Lend your voice at a trio of Pathways to Places open houses

December 3, 2015 by Janette Law

Update, Dec. 8: Downtown workers, residents and visitors – if lunch is more your bag, then drop by the newest open house, just scheduled.

Wednesday, Dec. 16, 11am-1pm
New Century Theatre
615 Hennepin Ave #145 (first floor of City Centre)

The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board is inviting the public to “examine and comment designs for parks and open spaces in Downtown Minneapolis.” The events, which begin tomorrow night, Thursday, December 3, are part of the yearlong planning process known as Pathways to Places, a joint venture of MPRB and the City of Minneapolis.

Pathways to Places will feed into MPRB’s Downtown Service Area Master Plan, as well as the City’s Downtown Public Realm Framework. MPRB expects the proposed downtown master plan to go before Park Board Commissioners

MPRB’s proposed designs for each of the five downtown neighborhood parks will be available at all three meetings. MPRB will not be making a formal presentation, so community members are invited to stop by anytime, 6-8pm:

North Area Open House
Thursday, December 3, 6-8pm
MPRB Headquarters – 2117 W River Road

East Area Open House
Tuesday, December 8, 6-8pm
Elliot Recreation Center – 1000 E 14th St

South Area Open House
Thursday, December 10, 6-8pm
Loring Community Arts Center – 1382 Willow St

If you can’t make the meeting, there is also an online comment form you can use to share your thoughts.

MPRB’s draft Downtown Service Area Master Plan is expected to go before Park Board Commissioners in late winter or early spring, 2016, after which there will be a further 45-day comment period.
