Pausing, but not standing still

Hello Friends –
It’s been a productive eight weeks since I came to the Parks Foundation as Interim Executive Director. During this time, the Executive Committee asked that we focus on maintaining organizational stability, the search for our new Executive Director, and moving our Water Works project forward.
I wanted to share an update with you on these important matters and take a moment to thank you for your on-going support.
First, MPF has initiated the search for our new Executive Director, retaining DHR International to guide us through the process. We anticipate having a dynamic new ED in place this September.
Next, we are very pleased that we continue to benefit from new and increased support from visionary organizations that are passionate about creating the Next Generation of Parks™.
Earlier this year, Pentair Foundation and The McKnight Foundation both renewed and increased their support for the Parks Foundation, with grants of $60,000 to our Water Works project and $150,000 over two years to our general operating fund, respectively. Most recently, General Mills graciously granted us $50,000, designating $30,000 to Water Works and $20,000 to general operating.
We can’t thank these organizations enough for their support, as well as our individual donors and partners for their on-going commitment to our mission. I’d especially like to acknowledge our colleagues at the Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board. It is our chief goal to present a Water Works schematic design that reflects the unique character of this amazing site and emboldens us to build together on its vision, as we will RiverFirst.
I’m delighted to be here and appreciate the hardworking, committed Board and Staff. Please stay in touch with us and continue to let us know what’s important to you about our community and our mission to create the Next Generation of Parks™.
