Interim Executive Director

Jocelyn Hale (Jocey) has worked in the nonprofit sector for over 35 years. She served as executive director of The Loft Literary Center (2007-2015), and previously led Best Buy’s Twin Cities' philanthropic initiatives. During her tenure at the Loft, the organization won APA’s national “Psychologically Healthy Workplace Award,” and MCN’s “Anti-Racism Initiative Award.”

Hale became an independent consultant (MillerHale Associates) in 2016 with specialties including leading strategic planning efforts, founder and leadership transitions including interim leadership support, mentoring, and board governance. Clients have included McKnight Foundation, Amazon Literary Partnerships (corporate giving), Arts Midwest, Textile Center, Cancer Legal Care, and many others. In 2017, Hale assembled a team which was awarded a multi-year contract with Bush Foundation to create and pilot year-long cohort programs for inclusivity and diversity leadership development in South Dakota and North Dakota (Change Networks program).

Hale’s strategic planning work is a featured case study in “Strategic Planning for Public and Nonprofit Organizations” by John Bryson, video case study for National Arts Strategies, and “Visual Strategy” by Bryson, Ackermann, and Eden.

While serving as interim executive director, Hale is taking a leave from her service on the Minneapolis Parks Foundation Board of Directors.

She is a life-long resident of Minneapolis where she lives with her husband and raised two sons. Hale loves the Minneapolis Parks System and is an enthusiastic bike commuter, city lakes swimmer, and Nordic skier.
