“The arts and parks are natural partners,” says Dan Woychick, the designer and creative strategist who launched Posters for Parks in 2016. “I think on the Venn diagram, you’ll find a pretty big intersection between people who love the parks, and artists and designers,” he says. “That’s why this event is a win-win all the way around, showcasing the work of local artists while supporting the parks we love.”
Celebrating 10 years this year, the Posters for Parks show continues to thrive and be a space to celebrate the Twin Cities Parks system. For the 2025 showcase, more than 145 artists applied for just 45 spots in the October 11 event at Minnehaha Park Pavilion. The final roster features a mix of returning favorites and first-time participants, offering another exciting year of original, parks-inspired artwork. With support from founder, Dan Woychick, this year’s selections were made by a three-person jury: Alexandria Davison, Nicki McCracken, and Colleen Stockmann, each bringing a unique perspective to the process.
“I have curated dozens of poster shows over the years, but serving on the Posters for Parks jury was different in the best way,” said Nicki McCracken, a Minneapolis designer, co-curator of the long-running ARTCRANK poster shows, co-founder of ArtYouHeart. “As a designer, I really valued working alongside a Parks Foundation representative and an educator/historian because we each brought a different perspective on what makes a strong fit. It’s never easy to narrow it down when there is so much strong work, but we aimed for a well-rounded mix of styles and ideas. I love that this show welcomes any print method, so we get to see everything from screen printing and letterpress to painting and digital work. It really shows off the creative depth of our community.”
“Serving as a juror for Posters for Parks was both a challenge and a joy,” said Alexandria Davison, the Communications Coordinator for the Minneapolis Parks Foundation. “It was so inspiring to see the variety of art that came through during the selection process. What makes the Posters show so special is how deeply personal and wildly different each artist’s vision is. Everyone brings their own connection to these spaces we, as a community, cherish. It’s amazing to see those meanings come to life. I’m so excited to see what this year’s roster cooks up!”
With the roster now confirmed, this year’s artists are now at work creating original, limited-edition posters inspired by Minneapolis parks. Each piece will debut at the October 11 show and be available for purchase, with 50% of proceeds going directly to the artist, and the remaining profits supporting the Minneapolis Parks Foundation’s People for Parks Fund, which invests in community-led park projects across the city.
