Four places to chill out in Minneapolis

Parks and pools are great places to seek refuge from the summer heat. In Minneapolis, we have an abundance of green space lined with trees, not to mention swimming lakes and even some air-conditioned recreation centers to escape the hot weather in. If you are feeling the heat, here are four recommendations to keep your summer cool.

Jim Lupient Water Park
As the name suggests, it’s a water park! Grab your sunscreen and expect to spend a full day at the the Jim Lupient Water Park. The pool has three large water slides, a spray pool for younger children, lap lanes, water volleyball, and plenty of other water fun to choose from.

62 Wading Pools
Generations of children have memories of splashing at their local wading pool during the summer months. The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board operates 62 wading pools across the city. See the full list and locations here.

Water Power Park
Located in the heart of Minneapolis, Water Power Park is just steps away from the powerful Saint Anthony Falls. Stand here on a hot day and feel the mist from the apron of the falls – nature’s own air conditioning.

Webber Natural Swimming Pool
The first public swimming pool with an all-natural filtration system in the U.S. Bike on the Grand Rounds and visit the pool for a refreshingly chlorine-free dip. It is a popular pool, so get there early!
