The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board has shared the current draft of its Urban Agriculture activity plan. Between now and December 21, they are encouraging all residents and park users to view the plan and provide feedback through minneapolisparks.org.
The plan will be used as a baseline for the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board to increase integration of urban agriculture in the parks and guide the investment necessary to sustainably support related activities.
The three main goals highlighted in the plan:
- Parks programs and services provide public education, access to healthy foods, and economic support for the local food system.
- Park facility renewal and development fosters urban agriculture activities.
- Food available on parkland benefits residents, park visitors and the environment.
