Next week, the Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board is hosting an all-star Closing the Gap: Insider Insights for Park Funding event. Local architecture critic and former StarTribune reporter, Linda Mack, will moderate a panel of parks experts:
- Thatcher Bailey, Executive Director, Seattle Parks Foundation
- Joe Wynns, Former Director, Indianapolis Parks and Recreation
- Warren Jimenez, Assistant Director of Portland Parks and Recreation
- Liam Kavanaugh, First Deputy Commissioner at New York City Parks and Recreation
The program takes place at the Walker Art Center, from 6-8:30pm, Tuesday, September 29, 2015.
The panel will share insights into how other cities with important park systems are addressing funding challenges. According to MPRB, Minneapolis faces “a multi-million dollar gap in the resources needed to program, operate, repair and improve” our neighborhood parks.
Planning on going? Seating is limited, so RSVP with your name and number attending by Noon, Monday, September 28 to ClosingTheGap@MinneapolisParks.org.
The event is co-sponsored by the City Park Alliance and McKnight Foundation.
