The Basics:
Sunset in the Park is a fundraiser for the Minneapolis Parks Foundation on Thursday, June 22, 2023 from 6pm – 9pm at the Longfellow Gardens (3933 E Minnehaha Pkwy). Rain or shine!
What the Parks Foundation will provide:
Empty tables (that seat up to 8), chairs, and a roped off space for guests to enjoy the beautiful park space. Music, ambient lighting, lawn games, and a photobooth for you to enjoy as the night comes on. And bug spray.
What guests should plan to bring:
Food, drinks (wine and beer are ok!), décor (including table cloth, plates, and cutlery), and a creative, joyful spirit to enjoy a beautiful night out with friends and to build community.
Some people keep it simple with picnic fare and a bottle of wine. Some go big with fancy plates and glasses, hand-made pastries, and bountiful flower arrangements. All styles are welcome and appreciated.
Parking and Transit:
Limited parking is available for free at the Longfellow Gardens, paid along Minnehaha Parkway, and paid at the Minnehaha Falls lot. Parking in the Longfellow House “staff lot” will only be available for staff and additional disability parking.
Biking is encouraged, and we’ll have extra bike parking at the event. We are also within walking distance of many bus routes and the light rail.
Arrival:
Guests will be allowed to choose tables on a first-come-first-serve basis upon arrival. We’ll open “doors” to the event space starting at 5 pm for guests to begin set-up. If you’d like to unload food and table décor, please do so at the Longfellow Gardens parking lot. You may unload and leave your gear here while you find available parking.
Things to Note:
- Please have your tickets ready at the entrance (located at the entrance to the Longfellow Gardens near the parking lot). We’ll be checking people in and giving wristbands (for re-entry). We will also need to check IDs, for everyone. Thanks for your patience.
- This area can be busy on a summer night, so make sure to have a plan and arrive a little early.
- This event doesn’t have a dress code, but feel free to make your group festive. Black tie? Yes. All in white? Yes. Funky hats? Yes. Jeans and t-shirts? Yes. Coordinate (or don’t), but please have fun.
- We are looking forward to having you join the inaugural Parks Foundation Sunset in the Parks!
