Parks Connect Us, Heal Us, and Make Us Whole

Since 2003, the Minneapolis Parks Foundation has raised more than $22 million for transformative projects and programs. Our work is shaped in collaboration with communities across Minneapolis, so our results equitably serve all city residents.

What Defines the Minneapolis Parks Foundation’s Projects

These five Guiding Themes help us connect our mission directly to people’s lives, helping to ensure our world-class urban park system continually evolves to meet the needs of this and future generations.

EQUITY & CULTURAL INCLUSION
Everyone has an ownership stake in the future of our park system, regardless of historic barriers that often separate us.

COMMUNITY HEALTH & WELLBEING
Parks provide healthy air, water and soil, and places to paly and exercise, on both the individual and community level. Parks also provide places where we can learn about our neighbors and form new and deeper connections to each other.

RESILIENCY TO CLIMATE CHANGE
Cities must adapt to and develop new methods to protect and restore natural systems, clean water, and mitigate the economic impacts of climate change.

CONNECTIONS TO THE NATURAL WORLD
In our increasingly urbanized world, maintaining places of natural beauty, respite, and awe helps us maintain our humanity within the natural world.

ECONOMIC VITALITY
Thriving parks and public spaces can attract increased investment and bring prosperity to the broader community.
