Making Progress on Water Works

Last night, community members gathered at Mill City Museum to see the refined Water Works park design. If you’ve been by the Water Works site recently, it’s evident that progress is being made to prepare the land and mill remnants for the next phase – construction. The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board, the Parks Foundation, DFA Landscape Architects, and HGA Architects all contributed to the presentation, which featured more than a dozen new renderings. (See the gallery, below, or view and download the full presentation here.)

The design team will continue working on design development and construction documents through December. Simultaneously, the Park Board continues to work with The Sioux Chef on kitchen design and dining experience, leading up an official lease agreement towards the end of the year. Construction bids are expected to go out early in 2019 with construction start to follow shortly after.

All of this tremendous work is made possible by the generous supporters of the RiverFirst Capital Campaign. The Parks Foundation continues to raise the needed funds to realize this world-class park. If you haven’t already contributed to the RiverFirst Campaign, it’s not too late to be a part of the most transformative park project in Minneapolis in generations. Please contact me or Jennifer Downham, our Chief Development Officer, to learn how you can make all the difference. Thank you!
