Southern China’s Guangzhou Municipal Government named international urban and landscape design firm West 8 as number one of two winners of the Guangzhou Fangcun Huadi Sustainable Master Plan competition.

West 8’s plan for Guangzhou Huadi Fangcun (Flower City) includes living and industrial environments with ecological water systems and wetlands while highlighting the area’s horticultural heritage.

On May 16, Adriaan Gueze, one of West 8’s founders, will speak at the Walker Art Center as part of The Next Generation of Parks speaker series. During his presentation, Creating People Parks: Governor’s Island, New York City, Gueze will share insights into creating an iconic 172-acre island park in the New York.
