The Parks Foundation partners with the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB), other public agencies and organizations to guide transformative public realm initiatives and lead private fundraising and implementation of signature projects. We help donors invest in important park projects in Minneapolis and champion innovations within parks through curated events.

Position Description: Giving Impact Officer of the Minneapolis Parks Foundation

The Giving Impact Officer’s primary responsibilities include the planning and implementing of activities to inspire generosity and strengthen community investment in our parks. This includes raising funds for capital projects, the MPF/MPRB endowment, general operations and special initiatives.

Principle Responsibilities:

• Meet with donors and prospects to qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward both planned and annual gifts.
• Work as part of a collaborative team, reporting to the Chief Development Officer and support the work of the Executive Director.
• Manage a portfolio of 140 donors and prospects with frequent, direct, one-on-one contact.
• Secure and formalize planned gifts to deepen donor relationships and build MPF’s endowments.
• Steward donors capable of making significant contributions that may be designated for specific project or purpose.
• Record all prospect and donor contacts using established protocols in our customer relationship management system, SalesForce.

• Report regularly on prospect management and fundraising results.
• Develop written proposals, presentations, gift agreements, renewal letters, and other donor communications.
• In partnership with the MPF Communications Team, develop strategies and execute marketing plans to promote planned gifts through mail, surveys, social media, e-mail, and print and broadcast media.
• Participate in planning meetings, retreats and events as an active member of MPF’s Development Team.

Required Qualifications:

• Three or more years of experience in prospect management, donor cultivation, and solicitation (or comparable experience in estate, tax, or financial planning or wealth management)

• A strong appreciation for nature, outdoor spaces and community growth.
• Experience discussing legacy giving or estate planning with donors (or clients)
• Experience cultivating and closing sizable charitable gifts or working with clients in estate or financial planning
• Strong cultural competence and experience with diverse communities
• Demonstrated successful project management ability, ability to handle multiple projects, prioritize, and employ time management skills
• Excellent phone skills and adept in developing trust and rapport over the telephone
• Persuasive communication with excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
• Ability to understand the importance of and maintain confidentiality
• Experience with fundraising databases Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or comparable software
• Ability to participate in donor events, including occasional evenings and weekends, and travel to donor meetings throughout Minnesota and occasionally out of state

Salary and Benefits

This is a full-time, exempt position with benefits including health and dental insurance, employer-contributed retirement, and vacation. Salary range is $70,000-$80,000 annually depending on experience and qualifications. The offices of the Minneapolis Parks Foundation are located in Minnehaha Park.
