Partner event: Learn what’s up with the Upper Harbor Terminal, Thursday, July 24

The Minneapolis Riverfront Partnership kicks off its new Riverfront Vitality Forums with a Thursday, July 24, event on the Minneapolis Upper Harbor Terminal. The free, ticketed forum will be held at the Mississippi Watershed Management Organization from 6-7:30pm.

The forum, sponsored in part by the Minneapolis Parks Foundation through in-kind support, will address the imminent closure of the Upper Harbor Terminal, a 48-acre city-owned property on the west bank of the Mississippi River. The closing of the terminal represents a rare opportunity to re-shape a large piece of the Mississippi Riverfront, a long-held goal of the city and Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board.

Minneapolis City Council President Barbara Johnson will kick off the discussion of the site’s redevelopment and introduce a panel of seven representatives from Upper Riverfront oversight agencies and stakeholder groups:

  • Joe Mullery, Northside Neighorhood Resident, Minnesota House of Representatives
  • Gary Cunningham, Council Member, Metropolitan Council
  • John Anfinson, Interim Superintendent, National Park Service
  • Kjersti Monson, Director of Long Range Planning, City of Minneapolis Community Planning and Economic Development
  • Kristin Guild, Business Development Manager, City of Minneapolis Community Planning and Economic Development
  • Bruce Chamberlain, Assistant Superintendent for Planning, Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board
  • Kit Richardson, Principal, Schafer Richardson
