Hundreds of parks and poster-art lovers descended on Royal Foundry Craft Spirits on Saturday, October 22, to celebrate the creative community’s take on what inspires them in the fabulous Minneapolis park system. Bikes, birds, and bouquets were on bright display.
In its seven-year history, the Posters for Parks Show has grown from an evening event to a week-long showcase. And this year the number of posters finding new homes topped 1,000!
Posters for Parks founder, Dan Woychick – a dedicated designer himself, as well as founder of the online shop LoveMplsParks – has worked diligently to promote a high quality and diverse collection of style and content in every poster show. Each year new artists make up approximately a third of the participants. And a significant number of artists have returned for five or more years!
Proceeds from the sale of each poster are shared between the artist and the Minneapolis Parks Foundation. And the Parks Foundation then puts those funds toward park programming and stewardship efforts with the People for Parks Fund.
Thanks to all the supporters and the 41 artists. Hope to see you next year – if not before!
