The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board was named today the nation’s top park system, for the fifth consecutive year. The Trust for Public Land’s ParkScore® index ranks the 100 largest cities for access to parks and greenspace, as well as amenities like playgrounds and basketball courts, and funding invested per capita. St. Paul, San Francisco, Washington D.C., and Portland, Ore., round out the top five for 2017.
“Great parks don’t happen by chance. Great park systems require committed leadership and strong community support,” says Tom Evers, Executive Director of the Minneapolis Parks Foundation. “Minneapolis has both and continues to set the standard. Congratulations to the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board for stewarding the best park system in America!”
