Hello Friends!
Parks play a critical role in community and civic life, with positive impacts that connect across generations. With great places to play, and green spaces where our spirits grow, parks create a sense of place and community connection, with programs that offer valuable pathways to education and career preparation, social and emotional development, healthy habits, and civic engagement.
Strong parks have the power to build even stronger communities.
This is the vision that inspires us at the Minneapolis Parks Foundation and the Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board as we partner with the community of North Minneapolis to launch a transformational renovation of North Commons Park. One of the oldest and largest neighborhood parks in our system, with one of the highest concentrations of young people anywhere in the state, North Commons Park is getting ready to welcome a whole new generation with community-driven youth development programs, new spaces for creativity and culture, and an updated campus of indoor courts and outdoor pools and gathering spaces designed to make the whole region stand up and cheer.
This once-in-a-generation transformation – approximately 2/3 new build and 1/3 renovation – will be the largest investment ever made in a Minneapolis neighborhood park. Your support for the Transforming North Commons Campaign will ensure that the next generation of North Minneapolis youth and families experience the power of parks, with equitable resources, accessible programs, and a campus that reflects the pride and endless potential of the Northside. We hope you will join us in this important work.
Thank you!

Interim Executive Director
Al Bangoura,
Superintendent of the Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board
