Minneapolis Parks Foundation is about fulfilling the almost limitless potential that great parks and inspiring public spaces have in building stronger connections between neighbors, fostering better outcomes for kids, driving economic opportunity for all, and even helping cities find new solutions to our most challenging problems, from inequality to climate change.
YOUR DONATION helps ensure the parks in our city remain accessible, equitable and serving everyone.
The Minneapolis Parks Foundation transforms human lives through parks and public spaces by aligning philanthropic investment and community vision.
Our work is shaped in collaboration with communities across Minneapolis, so our results genuinely serve all city residents.
In the early 1900s, Theodore Wirth envisioned a city covered with canopies of trees, and had a goal to install playgrounds within a quarter-mile of every child. It’s this sort of vision that we seek out, support, and bring to life. We look to leave behind a legacy of community-transforming, through RiverFirst and parks investments citywide.
Since 2003, the Minneapolis Parks Foundation has been an independent donor-supported nonprofit dedicated to supporting our continually evolving park system. Today, we bring visionary leadership, philanthropic investment, and private sector expertise to support innovation and equity throughout the whole Minneapolis Park system.
The Minneapolis Parks Foundation transforms human lives through parks and public spaces by aligning philanthropic investment and community vision. One of the ways we do this is by serving as the primary philanthropic partner to the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board, which stewards the city’s 6,790 acres of parkland and water.
Our work would be impossible without the generosity of donors and the tireless efforts of volunteers, board members, and corporate and foundation partners who embrace the transformative potential in our shared spaces.
