The Parks Foundation receives $40,000 grant from the Pentair Foundation

Minneapolis, Minn. – The Minneapolis Parks Foundation is pleased to announce that it is a 2016 grant recipient from the Pentair Foundation. The $40,000 grant will support the design and creation of RiverFirst, a series of new interconnected parks and trails along the Mississippi River that incorporate innovative storm water management and filtration systems. The funding is paired with up to 20 hours of volunteer technical expertise.

“The generous grant from the Pentair Foundation will allow us to advance two RiverFirst signature projects – Water Works and the Great Northern Greenway River Link – that align with Pentair’s commitment to strengthening the communities in which it operates and investing in water conservation and reuse efforts,” says Tom Evers, Executive Director of the Minneapolis Parks Foundation. “Together, these projects will promote the responsible stewardship of land and water resources, improve and conserve water, and enhance public good through better urban parks and provide world-class demonstration models in Minnesota.”

Pentair, a diversified global manufacturer, aims to improve the quality of life of people around the world by helping its customers produce more food, energy, and efficiencies from each drop of water, while protecting people and the environment. The Pentair Foundation supports this mission through philanthropic efforts focused on providing greater access to clean, safe water and food, investing in sustainable agriculture to increase food production, promoting STEM education, and supporting the communities where its employees live and work.
